Dear Steve, 

I have learned from your letter that you’re curious about the traditional Chinese culture, for example, giving lucky money in the Lunar New Year. It usually falls on the eve of the Lunar New Year when the whole family get together for an evening feast. After that, the elders will give money in red paper to children, wishing them good luck and health.

As for me, I remembered my grandparents each handed me a red envelope with lucky money after the big meal. Although there wasn’t much money, it represented their affection for me. I promised I would use the money wisely and do something meaningful.
