   The disadvantages they experienced in childhood turn out to be beneficial, in many cases giving them features of independence, creativity and ability to express themselves very clearly. Many famous people, such as the film star, Julia Roberts, are “middles.”

   One of the most successful people of modern times, the Microsoft genius, Bill Gates, is also a middle. His remarkable ability to think outside the box and take proper risks are features often found in middle children.

   And consider this: of all the US presidents since 1787, no fewer than 52 percent were middle children. This is not only a far higher proportion(比例)than the numbers in the overall population, but it also changes the traditional belief that the eldest sons always have the strongest personalities and therefore are natural-born leaders.
